The founder of Personal change management

Dr Grant Van Ulbrich is the founder of Personal Change Management and creator of Scared So What®.

His work addresses the core reason transformation fails: change is managed organisationally but experienced personally. Through Personal Change Management & PCM Assurance™, he focuses on how individuals interpret, emotionally process, and ultimately adopt change — the missing link between strategy and sustained outcomes.


Dr Van Ulbrich is the originator of the SCARED SO WHAT® framework, a structured model that makes personal change visible, measurable, and actionable. The framework is operationalised through Scared So What PRO, the current digital platform used to support individual change adoption and provide leaders with live insight into how change is experienced across organisations.


His work bridges academic research, leadership practice, and real-world deployment, with applications across public and private sector transformation, digital adoption, leadership development, and organisational resilience.


Dr Van Ulbrich is also developing SSWAI, the forthcoming AI-powered evolution of the Scared So What® platform, designed to enhance Personal Change Management through deeper reflection, personalised insight, and scalable coaching logic.

People within Social and  SOCIETY at large must learn how to manage personal change for themselves if they are to impact change for others.  This is a critical and cognitive skillset that we must teach, champion, and embed within all communities.   People must learn to manage change if they are to impact and sustain change.


We urge all organisations and societies to implement Personal Change Management into the Social aspect of ESG.   Doing this gives us a greater opportunity to foster change once we understand how to manage it for ourselves.
